Power-Mapping as a Tool for Peer Specialists
In this 1-hour webinar, we will use Spring Up’s power mapping tool to discuss the intersectional power dynamics at play in many mental health, recovery, and peer support spaces. We will also explore how social norms of coercion and control show up in everyday communication and decision-making in relationships. Participants will collaboratively uncover how we internalize social scripts that shape our communication and expectations within support relationships. Learning Objectives: - Identify at least one internalized script that shows up in their communication and decision-making processes. - Name at least three different types of power that might be present in a peer specialist dynamic. - Discern between the four different communication styles.
