Peer Support Within The Criminal Justice System

As the Forensic Peer Support Project Specialist for the Pennsylvania Mental Health Consumers’ Association, active in her own recovery since August of 2004, Liz shares her fear of incarceration. After receiving a DUI and possession charge which prompted her recovery, she recognized her mental health diagnosis of major depression and anxiety and sought treatment. Her main desire is to help others like herself. This workshop will: - Define Forensic Peer Support - Reducing recidivism and the over-representation of mentally ill in the criminal justice system - Recognize Diversion Opportunities available for individuals with a Mental Health Illness or Substance Use Disorder
